Gem Sprites are spirits of deceased baby animals.  All Gem Sprites start off in a smaller form. When they are in this form, they do not have a stable physical body. Majority of the time they will phase through solid objects. 
In order for them to obtain a larger and stable physical body, they must eat anima particles. Their physical bodies often look like a mix of other animals because of the anima particles they have consumed from various animals. 
Most Gem Sprites have some form of rabbit ears as rabbit anima is the most common type available.
Unlike most sprites, Gem Sprites do not have wings. Instead the gems on their scarves allow them to either float or leap across large areas. The gem on their hat allows them to phase through solid objects at will. However, this takes quite a bit of energy and it leaves them weaker.
